Jay demonstrates how he maintains his personal space.
He establishes respect for that all-important space by causing lateral
movement away from him whenever the horse gets to close. Jay uses
a whip as an extension of his arm as he gently maintains his space
while working closely with the horse to disengage the hindquarters
and control the horse's movement. He reminds us that a horse's logic
is repetition and that repetition forms a habit that we call training.
