The First Ride

Before the first ride Jay ensures that the horse is standing balanced and square. He gradually eases himself onto the horse, first with one foot in the stirrup on the left, then again with one foot in the other stirrup on the right. Only when Jay feels the horse is already to accept a rider, does he swing his leg and sit in the saddle to begin this first ride.
